ASUNDER: THE ARENA OF MEGALYTH
over 3 years ago – Sun, Dec 06, 2020 at 06:28:14 PM

A PORT BUILT ON THE BACK OF A SEA SERPENT

On the crossroads of three rivers that connect the Mainland's major cities lies the Seafarer port of Megalyth. Here, the Seafarers are king. Perhaps the only place they are. Legend says the city was built on the spine of a two thousand-foot long sea serpent. The ring of bones that forms the base structure would seem to concur—goods of every nature and size, both legal and illegal, pass through the ports' bone archways. Every ship pays a tax, but whose hands that money ends up in is quite a twisted tale. The richest of the rich have a stake here, and the poorest of the poor do their work.

The Bone Arena of Megalyth draws crowds from all across the Mainland.

The Bone Arena is a gladiatorial pit raised on four dead serpents' spines and is the highlight attraction. The greatest warriors in the land come to compete for glory and riches. In no other city is such gruesome conduct legal, but that could be said about many things in Megalyth. The black market is strong, and glass dealers are almost overlooked by the local enforcers who are easily bought off. The city's politics are a constant screaming match, and on occasion, vocal revolutionaries go missing. But would you expect under Seafarer law?

Seafarer ships are amalgamations of living crustaceans that are farmed, reshaped, and bonded together. Most have a gaping maw in front that sucks in water and spews it out the back for propulsion. Their membrane-like sails are merely for guidance. Even the glorious living ships of New Gaia or the sleek runners of the Mainland can compete with a Seafarer vessel's speed and power. One usually prays before leaving port that Seafarer pirates do not find you. But then again, the Gods did abandon Asunder.

ASUNDER: THE BONE ARMY
over 3 years ago – Fri, Dec 04, 2020 at 09:38:40 PM

THE WORLD CAN BE BOUGHT

The Bone Army is the largest mercenary army in Asunder. Their soldiers can be found throughout the Mainland battling Naga, holding down large cities, or working for the Secret Societies. What matters most to their leaders is being well paid, even if that means by the wrong people. However, their discipline and focus cannot be matched.

To join their ranks, a Seeker must hunt down a massive Horok Beast and craft armor from their bones. Most don't survive that part. This is a unique way to lead a character to the Bone Recruit Path, which grants them armor, personalized weapons, and military contracts. This even an interesting Path for all members of a group to take as well, allowing for stories of seeking answers on the frontlines of battle.

There are both Expert and Master Paths available for a Seeker among their ranks, from loyal front line recruits to scouts and even their monstrous dreadnaughts.

ASUNDER: BOONS & BANES
over 3 years ago – Thu, Dec 03, 2020 at 09:27:27 PM

RATCHET UP THE STAKES

In Asunder, when making a challenge roll, whether it be combat, a physical feat, or social deception, players roll 1d20 vs a difficulty number. If it is a standard roll, or check, the number is 10. In combat, it is the target's defense, and in matters of deception, it is their Intellect score and so on.

However, to give flavor, increase the stakes, or add narrative, Keeper's can apply Boons or Banes. This game mechanic involves rolling a d6 for each Boon or Bane and then taking the highest singled number and, if it is a Boon, adding it to your challenge roll, or if it is a Bane subtracting it.

Keepers can add Banes based on circumstances. The wall you are trying to climb is icy, so the Keeper adds a Bane. The wall may be icy, and it is pouring rain, so they add two Banes. You may also be trying to do this while fatigued, so they add three Banes. This can apply to the courtesan you are trying to pry information from in a social challenge. The problem is, you employed her services last week and didn't leave a tip. Now, add a Bane to try and persuade. Boons can bring rolls below zero, which then causes the exact opposite of the desired effect to occur. Lots of fun.

Boons work the opposite way and can come from a Seekers Path(s) or professions. Someone with the Sailor profession would get a boon trying to hold onto a ship during a storm, or a torturer would get a Boon when trying to intimidate a captured enemy.

The Keepers Path (or it can be added on to the others) comes with a custom set of dice perfect for this. The d20 is for challenges, the green d6 for Boons, and the Brown d6 for banes.

THE SPORE VILLAGES OF ASUNDER!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Dec 02, 2020 at 10:32:13 PM

POWERING A CITY

In Asunder, spores and their natural gasses play a large factor in daily life. Most large cities, such as Hyden, the Mainland's intellectual and wealth capital, have a series of spore villages on their outskirts. These villages run large organic "lines" from enormous spores into Hyden, giving them gas for fire and heat. The spore villages are always kept on the outside because they are quite unstable, and a spore exploding, and killing those around it, is not uncommon. Spore harvesting and fuel running are left for the lower class, who have nothing to do but hate the rich. These locations make great places to seek answers as those in power often ignore them, so smuggling and secrets are often transacted there. Be careful. Things may go boom!

CHAOS WIELDER MINI UNLOCKED!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Dec 02, 2020 at 06:13:18 PM

CHAOS IS NOW IN YOUR HANDS!

Thank you all so much for backing and supporting the world of Asunder. We crushed another goal of $60k and have unlocked the Chaos Wielder mini!  The next one to unlock is the SKIMMER.

Chaos is a unique element in the game. Only those from the Mainland can wield it, or I should say it wields them. They have to seek out a Chaos Shard and make contact (sometimes that kills people). It becomes immediately addictive, and after each use, you become fatigued as you come down from the "high." Chaos powers allow you to alter reality and matter as it is the building block force of the planet. You can push powers up to three times to increase their results. Sometimes this even results in permanent changes or a permanent creation. After pushing, a Chaos Wielder rolls a d6 for each time they pushed. If they roll an odd number, the player must immediately take 2d6 damage or 1d6 Discord. Discord is a latent effect of Chaos, and when you build up too much, you start to break apart and even explode.

NEXT MINI TO UNLOCK - THE SKIMMER

The people of Sky City are referred to as Skimmers. This one is using a spore backpack to assist in a heroic leap.
